This was a fun project. At the end of 2020, Hardsuit Labs wanted to close out the year with a team-building exercise. I was partnered with a lighter, a scripter and a programmer for a Game Jam. The team wanted to create a “Spooky House” akin to a Scooby Doo mystery where the ghost was clearly someone under a sheet.
I was responsible for the layout and architecture of the house as well as acting environment artist. I exported assets packs, such as Dear Esther, to create a base for a modular kit. After exporting the assets and textures out of Unreal, I cleaned, Up-Resed and built a robust kit for the assembly of the house. Then I propped and built the story around the game we were Jamming on.
When we finished, Unreal Raytracing was just released for UE4 and I wanted to have fun and push an idea even further. I twisted the story that the squirrel was the ghost instead of the cat and was inspired by Dali’s “Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening. I timed the sequencer work to Delta Heavy’s Song “Ghosts” and released it to Hardsuit Labs as a Happy New Year's video.
